"WHEN WE
WERE YOUNG"

Crossover Jazz Original

When We Were Young appears on TWS's album of the same name. The song was composed by founder Randy Kemp, and furthers the pivot from instrumentals to vocal numbers.

"YOUR OWN PERSONAL JESUS"

A Crossover Jazz Cover

On TWS's 2020 album Manson Swings, Your Own Personal Jesus appears as a cover of the cover by Marilyn Manson. With familiar jazz turnaround chord progressions, the arrangement keeps the erie feeling of the album.

"SUMMERTIME"

A New Take On An Old Tune

Originally composed by George Gershwin Summertime became a popular standard and many jazz musicians covered the song. Here, Randy's arrangement and reharmonization of the tune adds a modern R&B touch.

"STORMY MONDAY"

Classic Blues

A cover of a classic tune, building up to some major horn-age. Arranged by Randy, this version builds up as it goes.

L.B. (Unreleased Take)

Another version of Kemp's tune L.B.

Kemp's original soul jazz tune L.B. appears on Another Groovy Mystery. The Weather Service recorded their trio tracks in Greg's studio, Packed Sound. The version on the album is a little faster. This footage was from one of three recording sessions at Packed Sound, other tracks were added on in later sessions at Randy's studio, Main Street Music.

Sara Smile

The Weather Service covers a classic from Hall and Oates in a soulful style complete with claps and tambourine. This track features Randy Kemp on keyboard and tenor saxophone.
